Next Screen Infotech Private Limited has taken the initiative of making a financial contribution to help the recovery efforts in the North Bengal flood disaster.
On 25th August 2017, Friday, Next Screen Infotech did the funding through Belur Math Ramakrishna Mission.
Following incessant rain in July and August, various places of West Bengal were affected by the flash flood and landslides. Since August 2017, North Bengal has been facing severe flooding situation. The Mahananda, Torsha, Raidak and Kaljani rivers were flowing above the mark of danger and having high current in them. According to news, people died while crossing the river on boat due to heavy current. Because of the heavy rainfall, the railway tracks of New Jalpaiguri station were totally submerged in water, many trains were severely delayed or canceled – in a nutshell, the normal life was really disrupted in the entire North Bengal. People faced death because of drowning in water, snakebite and failure to resist the pressure of wall collapse. The major districts of North Bengal named North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur, Alipurduar, Coochbehar, and Malda were severy hit by the record rainfall and flood.
In such scenario, we, at Next Screen Infotech Private Limited, have taken a collective initiative to stand beside the flood victims of North Bengal. Yes, we cannot go there physically and stand beside the affected people literally. But that does not mean we cannot be the part of the process of rescuing the flood victims, meeting their needs and putting smile on their faces. Thus in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission Belur Math, we have given a financial support to them.
Day by day gradually the entire flood situation in North Bengal is getting under control. Report says that the waters had begun receding and the situation has been improving. Around 776 relief camps had been set up throughout the affected places, where countless people took shelter. Various relief materials such as cooked food, dry food, medicines and water are being distributed among people. The constant monitoring and 24×7 support of government officers and district magistrates have helped a lot in the improvement of the entire situation. Health check-ups are being conducted by the medical officers to prevent the outbreak of any water-borne disease. The transport system is also getting improved. The availability of busses in and around various destinations of North Bengal has been increased. The airlines also have started offering flight tickets at less price as compared to usual for Kolkata- Bagdogra sector.
We feel glad of being a part of this exertion. Thanks to Mr. Surajit Saha and Mrs. Usashi Upadhyaya, the founders of the company; without their initiative and support the entire mission would not have been possible. We would like to say thanks to everybody in our company. They supported the entire work and gave contribution. We are fortunate of having such dedicated, sensible and generous people in our team.
We pray for all the flood victims and wish them to get back to normal life soon.
